Short version: not really, at least not any you can go and play at. If you have landed here hoping to find a row of other casinos run quietly by the same people behind Betfred, the honest answer is that the cupboard is almost bare. Betfred did have one online sister brand, Oddsking, but it closed in 2023 and the domain now just points visitors back to Betfred. Everything else that carries the Betfred name is either a chain of high-street betting shops or an in-house technology company, not a separate site you can sign up to as an alternative.
That makes Betfred unusual on a page like this. A lot of the brands people search for turn out to be one of forty near-identical skins on a shared platform. Betfred is the opposite: a single, long-established name owned by one family, with the sister brand it used to have now switched off.
Betfred is privately owned by the Done family. Brothers Fred and Peter Done opened their first shop in Salford in 1967, traded for decades as Done Bookmakers, and rebranded to Betfred in 2004 (betfredgroup.com). It has never been floated or sold into a larger gambling group, which is why you will not find it sharing a licence with a stack of unrelated casino brands.
Where it gets a little more involved is the licensing, because the online business and the shops sit under different companies:
So when you play at Betfred online, your account, your money and your complaints all sit with Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited under account 39544. That is the number worth knowing.
Here is every Betfred-connected brand and company I could verify on the register, and what each one actually is:
| Brand / company | Operator & licence | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Oddsking (oddsking.com) | Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited — UKGC account 39544 (the same licence as betfred.com) | The only genuine online sister brand. Closed in 2023; the site now thanks players and directs them to Betfred, so it is not a live alternative. |
| Betfred betting shops | Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Limited — UKGC account 1058 | The high-street retail chain in the same family group. A different licence, and not an online casino. |
| Betfred Technology Limited | UKGC account 49528 (software / game host) | An internal technology company in the group, not a consumer gambling site. |
Notice what is not on that list: no separate casino, no bingo skin, no "second brand" you can defect to and still be with the same operator. Oddsking was that brand, and it is gone. If a page elsewhere hands you a long list of "Betfred sister sites" featuring names like William Hill, bet365 or Betfair, treat it with suspicion — those are competitors, not siblings. They are run by entirely different companies on entirely different licences, and calling them sisters is simply wrong.
Betfred's online arm has a real regulatory history, and it is fair to weigh it. The Commission fined Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited £2.87m in September 2022 over anti-money-laundering and social-responsibility failings across betfred.com and the then-live Oddsking (Gambling Commission), and the operator agreed a further £900,000 settlement on 30 June 2026 for similar shortcomings (Gambling Commission). That does not mean you should avoid it — plenty of large operators have been penalised — but it is the kind of thing you deserve to know before handing over ID and card details.
A few practical checks that apply here specifically:
Betfred is a rare thing in this corner of the market: a genuinely standalone brand rather than one face of a faceless network. It is owned by the Done family, its website runs under Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited on UKGC account 39544, and its only real online sibling, Oddsking, has already shut. If a stable of related casinos is what you were after, this is not the trail to follow — there simply is not one. What you get instead is a single, well-known operator with a long history, a decent-sized shop estate behind it, and a regulatory record that is worth reading with your eyes open. Judge it on its own merits, not on sisters it does not have.
